The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has been capturing and collaring elk in Owyhee County to determine elk utilization of public vs private land to address depredation concerns and improve hunting opportunity for tag holders. The elk location data allows IDFG to determine preferred habitat types, and potentially identify habitat improvement projects on public land that benefits elk. This funding will help provide funding to help cover helicopter capture costs for the final stages of this project.
