Idaho Dept. Fish & Game – Bird by Bird (Program partners: BLM, Land Trust of the Treasure Valley, Wild Birds Unlimited, Audubon Society-Golden Eagle Chapter)
Funding was provided to the “Bird by Bird” program which has operated since 2008 in thirteen Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Caldwell, and Emmett schools. The program teaches Idaho’s youth from preschool through high school about birds and their habitats. Schools apply for admission to the program, and if accepted, are loaned bird feeding equipment, optics, seed and a collection of bird books and field guides. Teachers are oriented to teach the material. The students are the primary caretakers who feed, water and monitor the birds’ behavior and document data.
