Boise River Enhancement Network – Cottonwood Creek Daylighting
This project proposes to restore the natural function of Cottonwood Creek in Julia Davis Park, the City of Boise’s oldest park. Cottonwood Creek, the largest tributary of the lower Boise River, is now confined in a flume. A 440-foot stream channel will be built across the park making Cottonwood Creek the only lower Boise River tributary to flow above ground into the river. This project will directly impact millions of people and demonstrate the feasibility of restoring critical fish and wildlife habitat in an urban setting.
