Trout Unlimited, the St. Joe Ranger District and Idaho Panhandle National Forest are partnering to help restore the Red Ives Creek to diversify aquatic habitat types through the addition of large woody debris to about 4,000′ of the channel. The intended outcomes are to develop pools, provide cover, create small meanders, increase interaction with floodplain in some spots, and protect existing infrastructure. These outcomes will support different life stages of both bull trout and Westslope cutthroat trout while also benefitting other wildlife species.

The Mayfly Project is planning to mentor 8 north Idaho children in foster care via the sport of fly fishing. The children will learn about conservation efforts in Idaho and participate in several conservation-minded activities, while receiving their own mentor to help them learn how to fly fish. The goal of The Mayfly Project is to provide unique opportunities for children in foster care to connect with the outdoors, while they also learn how to protect the environment and fisheries we are privileged to enjoy.

Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game’s (IDFG) goal is to supply Idaho Department of Fish and Game Region 1 Conservation Officer’s patrol vehicles with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). IDFG Conservation Officers work in remote areas where medical facilities can be hours away by road. Officers make personal contact with 20,000 people a year, and they are routinely first on scene to remote medical emergencies. Being first on scene means officers need the necessary medical equipment to render aid until paramedics arrive, sometimes this means the difference of life and death for an individual in a cardiac emergency, AEDs have been shown to increase the rate of survivability 5 fold.
