In 2015, the Idaho Department of Lands partnered with Trout Unlimited, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and local off highway vehicle clubs to reroute the Sinker Creek off highway vehicle trails, and eliminated eleven crossings in one square mile section of State land to preserve the Sinker Creek Redband Trout.  This project provided funding in 2017 to continue this project by providing needed interpretive signage, fencing, and trail markers to encourage the use of the new trail path.
